Roadway flooding in and around Holly, Michigan Wednesday morning may prove to make challenging commute.
North Holly Road between Holly and Grand Blanc has no less than four places where water over the roadway exceeds 3 inches and in one spot–just north of Sherman Middle School–was close to an estimated 6 inches deep.
Because of the location of the flooded roadways–at the bottom of or just over hills–they can come up on you suddenly and give little time for breaking.
According to the National Weather Service’s precipitation analysis, some areas in and around Holly have received over 3 inches of rain over the last three days.
Heavy rainfall combined with a heavy runoff from an exceptionally snowy winter has pushed the water table over the brink in low lying areas.
Motorists should be careful as water can drastically reduce traction, and water depths can be deceiving. If possible, motorists should seek alternate routes.
